The Perry County Public Library wrapped up their Summer Reading Program [SRP] on Thursday July 28, with prizes being awarded August 9-13.
Library staff and volunteers worked hard to make this summer’s program fun and exciting. This summer’s program would not have been possible without the support from the local Save the Children representatives Stacey Evans and Amanda Bell, plus our local Perry County Friends of the Library.
This year’s SRP program theme was Oceans of Possibilities and the highlight of our local program was the Deep Sea Circus presented by Barry Mitchell, along with Sam the Turtle and Hyena the Chicken on July 25th at the Azbill Community Center.
There were Prizes awarded for those participants who kept a reading log showing how many minutes they read. The top prizes included books, toys, puzzles, and cash.
“We have had great enthusiasm from our participants and significant support from our volunteers and community, both in time and resources,” said Nan Garrett, Library Director. “We are really excited about next year’s Summer Reading program.”
