When it’s time for you to renew your Perry County License plate, ask for the beautiful Dolly Parton Imagination Library specialty plate. The cost of this plate is $35 in addition to the normal cost of a Perry County license plate. Here’s the good news: $15.37 goes to the Perry County Imagination Library Program, $15.37 goes to the Tennessee Arts Commission, and $4.25 goes to the cost of the plate production. Let’s see how many Imagination Library plates we can get in our County!
The amount that goes to the local Imagination Library program pays for one child to receive a free book each month for 6 months. Currently, Perry County averages 337 children under the age of 5 enrolled in the program. Children receive a new, age-appropriate book each month at no cost to their families. This early literacy program is designed to instill a love of books and reading in our children. By the time they graduate from the program at age 5, they are better-prepared to enter Kindergarten.
To enroll your child to receive a book each month at no cost to the family, go to one of the public libraries (one in Lobelville or one in Linden) to ask for an application or register online at imaginationlibrary.com. If you want to support this important endeavor to promote early literacy for our children, $30 will provide books for one child for one year. Mail your donation to Friends of the Imagination Library of Perry County, 104 College Avenue, Linden, TN 37096. Your donation of any amount will be appreciated.
