Lobelville Library News
Congratulations to Lorella Woods, Library Assistant at the Lobelville Branch Library, who has been promoted to Branch Manager. Beginning as a volunteer, Lorella has worked at both libraries in Perry County since June 2016. She holds an Associate of Arts degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. Her work experience includes supervisory responsibilities, working with children, serving the public and utilizing her extensive computer skills. She and Marcia Smith, outgoing Branch Manager, will work together to ensure a smooth transition.
Marcia Smith's last day as Branch Manager at the Lobelville Library was August 3rd, 2018. After six years of serving the Lobelville Community as Branch Manager, Marcia will continue her impact on the community through her dedicated work with the Perry County Youth Centers. In addition, Marcia will continue to serve as Board Chair for the Lobelville Friends of the Library. Thank you, Marcia, for your tremendous accomplishments and support of the Lobelville Library and the Lobelville community. We have been fortunate to have benefited from your creativity and energy at the Lobelville Library during your tenure.
Find YOUR Fun at the Lobelville Library
Lobelville is proud of its new location in the Lobelville City Hall municipal building on Main St. Before moving to the new digs, the library was located on a side street, in a building where it had run out of room and so welcomed an opportunity to move to the new facility.
With a large population of home schoolers, more room was needed for computer stations and a space for the children of their own, not to mention more room for books! Thanks to this new space, the Lobelville Library is able to provide more programs for everyone, young and old. The Friends of the Lobelville Library was formed after the move, and supports the library with its own programs and fund raisers.
The Lobelville Library Tiny Tots program is held throughout the month, please review the calendar for specific dates and times.
Generally, this program is appropriate for toddlers and preschoolers.
The Lobelville Library Club Chaos program is held throughout the month, please review the calendar for specific dates and times. Generally, this program is appropriate for older kids aged 10 and over. Younger children who are mature and can sit and learn and work on projects independently are invited.
Occasionally, the Lobelville Library hosts a family movie night. Generally, these movies are rated G or PG, but call to confirm. These movies are free and open to the public. Free drinks and popcorn are also served.
Each month the Lobelville Library offers a free Country Dinner for all ages, provided by Ms. Cowboy (Marcia Smith), and open to everyone, free to all. These are on the first Tuesday of each month, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. No need to make reservations, and if you would like to bring a dish, even the merrier.
Always be sure to check the Calendar of Events page (button below) for any changes to this schedule, including days the Lobelville Library is closed.
