That All May Read 

The library service loans recorded, large print and braille books and magazines, music scores in large print and braille and special playback equipment. The TLABM book collection of over 50,000 titles includes popular fiction and nonfiction, best sellers, classics, history, biographies, religious literature, children's books and books in foreign language. There are over 70 popular magazines available. Go to Available Materials to find out more.

The Perry County Public Library in Linden will continue providing free computer classes for Older Adults every Monday, 10 - 11 AM at the library until August 13. Take advantage of this opportunity while it is available. Class size is limited, and students MUST REGISTER by noon on Friday for the following Monday. Call the library at 931-589-5011 to reserve your spot.

pc youthcenter logoThe Perry County Youth Center will provide FREE meals to the children of Perry County throughout the summer, up to age 18 and including adults age 19 if they are currently in high. No documentation is required. However, all children must eat their meals at the Youth Center or the Lobelville Middle School. Parents, get your kids excited about reading this summer with First Lady Crissy Haslam’s Read to be Ready Summer Reading Competition, a challenge to read the most number of minutes over the summer break!

All Tennessee children, from rising Kindergarteners to rising 4th Grade students, are eligible to track their number of minutes read from June 1 – July 27 to compete for Tennessee’s Top 100 Summer Readers. Students will qualify to win a Top 100 Reader spot based on a lottery system. Students must read a minimum of 2,000 minutes to be eligible for an entry into the lottery, and will gain one additional entry for each 1,000 extra minutes read past 2,000 minutes. There's lots of information available at the First Lady's website, www.tn.gov/firstlady, including reading log forms, guidelines, and FAQs.

Capt. Barry, the Recycling PirateHosted by the Linden Library, Captain Barry, the Recycling Pirate entertained and educated the kindergarten students from Linden Elementary School on April 11 at the Linden Library. Captain Barry and Sammy the Litter Turtle told the children about what happens with trash at the landfill and what happens with recycled items. The children, their teachers and library patrons were educated and entertained by this dynamic duo.
