Christine Buckingham, our intrepid President of the Friends, just left the library with the deposit of the proceeds from Saturday's Book and Bake Sale. Our final total was $701.25! So many of us were concerned that moving the sale to the Community Center might drastically reduce our sales. Gosh, were we wrong!
Many thanks to you for your donations of baked goods, books, cash, and your time and energy. Christine had faith in you, and you all delivered. Thanks, again, to those who spent hours posting signs and flyers, moving tables, unpacking and sorting books, helping customers, packing up the items not sold, moving more tables, and cleaning the Community Center room. You know who you are and your sore feet and backs are reminders of your efforts.
The Community Center's large meeting room and 34 tables permitted the display of all of our inventory of used books on top of the tables. (You remember that the limited space in the library confined us to 8 tables for display of inventory. Many books were displayed underneath the tables in open boxes.) Thank you to Denise Head, who reserved the space, and guided us in making the most of the Community Center's facilities.
In addition, the larger space allowed for 2 tables (beautifully decorated by Cindy Bayer) to display baked goods and snacks donated by many of you and our generous community. There are just a few leftover snacks at the library, which will be sold to library patrons tomorrow when the library opens.
Our customers loved the extra space, easy access, and the variety of items available for sale...and our final sales of $701.25 confirm the sale as a great success. These funds will be put to good use to support the library's patrons and our lovely community.
