Don't we all hate robocalls?  And everyone of us knows at least one person who has been affected by one scam or another.  The scammers have advanced in this age of technology, and it's time we advanced as well to prevent the scammers from winning.

On June 20, at 2:00, the Linden Library will host Anna Smith, Outreach Coordinator with the Division of Consumer Affairs under the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance.  This division works to educate Tennesseeans about scams and deceptive business practices.  Anna will give a presentation "Scams Stop Here" to help educate and inform all of us about such topics as:

  • Why Scam Prevention Education is Vital

  • Current Popular Scams:

    • Tech Support Scams
    • Door to Door Maintenance Scams
    • Timeshare Scams
    • Phishing & Smishing
    • Imposter Scams
    • Lottery/Prize Scams
    • Charity Scams
    • Robocalls

  • How to Protect Yourself

  • Where to Report Scams/Deceptive Business Practices

  • Scam Fighting Resources

Ms. Smith will be giving this same presentation to the Lobelville Library on June 21, time to be determined, as well as June 20 at the Senior Citizens Center in Linden.  Please take advantage of this seminar the State of Tennessee provides to its citizens.
